Our Story
In 2020, in the heart of Douglasville, Georgia, Better Options Farm was born from Erdeen’s belief that food is medicine. For her, farming is more than planting seeds—it’s about nurturing health, creating balance, and feeding both the mind and the spirit. Every seed she plants is imagined at its peak—fresh, vibrant, and ready to be shared. Today, the farm brings that vision to life for families across Douglasville and the greater Metro Atlanta area, offering produce grown with care, intention, and love for the community it serves.
Erdeen’s love for farming began in her childhood in Barbados, where most residents maintained small plots of land to grow their daily meals. She was inspired by her father, who carefully tended the land he sharecropped, and that early exposure sparked a lifelong passion.
In recent years, Erdeen became increasingly aware of the harmful chemicals used in commercial agriculture, her own sugar intake, and a family history of high blood pressure and diabetes. These concerns motivated her to make a meaningful change in her diet — not just for herself, but for the entire community. Better Options Farm became that change.
Today, the farm grows a variety of vegetables and herbs. Chickens have also been introduced, and are raised on a no-corn, no-soy, non-GMO feed to ensure another healthier food source. Every element is chosen with care, reflecting Erdeen’s commitment to clean, conscious living.
Erdeen and her husband Tony work side by side to keep the farm thriving. While Erdeen handles the planting, maintenance, and harvesting, Tony builds and maintains the farm’s infrastructure. He also attends to tasks like tilling and weeding as needed.
Better Options Farm is more than a place to grow food — it’s a community partner. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with local schools, organizations, and food banks to share knowledge, resources, and wellness.
Our future vision is for Better Options Farm to become a hub of activity — a well-known, established space that offers both nourishment and connection. The farm has a large indoor facility where our goal is to explore aquaponics or hydroponics to further expand access to fresh, healthy food.
We’re staying the course — and as our perennial herbs and fruit trees take root, so does our commitment to building a healthier food supply and a more sustainable future for all. Contact us to start your healthy journey with Better Options Farm.
